Kanzlei

Our law firm

Our law firm continues the tradition of the Stein patent law firm founded in Saarbrücken in 1910, which was incorporated in our firm in 1983.

The firm is based in Saarbrücken, in the middle of the European economic domain of SAAR / LORRAINE / LUXEMBOURG (SAARLORLUX region: 60 km from Metz, 90 km from Luxembourg). From here, we are globally active in all fields of intellectual property protection (patents, utility models, trademarks and designs).

This includes counselling and representation in the fields of technical protective rights (patents and utility models) as well as in other areas of intellectual property protection, for example, the protection of company names, product and service designations (trademarks, titles) and design registrations.

We will advise and represent you during the preliminary stages of a possible protective-right application (conducting of searches), in the drafting and filing of application documents and during the granting procedure. Our activities also encompass proceedings in which the legal validity of protective rights is reviewed after such rights have been granted or registered, and proceedings relating to the infringement of intellectual property rights. We offer consultation and representation both in and out of court.

By virtue of our complementary technological backgrounds we are able to provide sound counselling in many fields of engineering and the natural sciences: mechanical engineering, electrical engineering/electronics, chemistry and physics.

Since all three of our patent lawyers trained as patent lawyers in the patent law departments of large industrial companies, additional expertise being gained after qualification in the employ of major industrial concerns, the firm boasts comprehensive experience especially in the fields of cooperation agreements during development phases, license agreements and in law relating to the inventions of employees.

Due to the geographical location of our law office, we are multilingual (German, English, French and Spanish).

In addition, we have the technology to access numerous online databases, which means that for
- industrial property rights (patents and utility models)
- rights pertaining to distinguishing marks (trademarks, company names), and
- design rights
we are always in a position to conduct fast and up-to-date searches of all kinds, both in national and international databases. These searches include
- searching for protective rights of a certain owner / inventor
- subject-matter searches in individual areas and on individual topics
- establishing the current legal status of protective rights.

We are also able to monitor protective rights after applications have been filed by competitors; here we proceed both according to the applicants search criteria and to thematic points of view.
